    • POLICIES FOR PARENTS

      • Parents are strongly encouraged to set an example for their child/teen by continuing their own religious education, by attending weekly Mass and by taking the initiative to understand and know their faith AND to strive toward reading scripture on a daily basis. This last suggestion is to deepen your own faith.
      • Parents will be notified of behavior issues, if the disruptive behavior continues the parent will be contacted and depending on the severity of the behavior, will determine the course of action.
      •
      • Parents are expected to support their child/teen in activities planned for them. These activities will be listed in the school year calendar hand-out received at the beginning of the year. This is to help foster a sense of community within the church and to help teach your child/teen how to build a relationship with Jesus through service and action.
      •
      • Parents of Youth Ministry students are asked to volunteer at fundraisers to benefit Youth Ministry which is part of the Youth Ministry program. This can be done by offering your time or talent. When your child/teen sees that you are supporting the program, it will help to teach them the value of team work and participation.
      •
      • Use of electronics will not be allowed in class – other than those needed by the Core member to teach the class. If a child/teen is using any electronic devices or toys in class (unless they are asked), they will be confiscated and returned to them at the end of the class.
      •
      • Parents will notify the Youth Minister if their child/teen will not be attending class because of illness or vacation, etc.

    • Event Policy for Youth Ministry

Youth Ministry Events such as Journey & Convention will be paid for as follows:
      • 1/3 of the total cost (event plus transportation) will be the responsibility of the youth & family.
      •
      • 1/3 of the total cost will be paid by the Parish fundraiser if the youth of their parent is active in the fundraising; if they do not participate in fundraising, the youth and family will be responsible for this 1/3 as well.
      •
      • 1/3 of the total cost will be paid by the Parish if the youth is registered & active in Youth Ministry. Youth who are not actively involved may attend at the discretion of the Youth Minister in consultation with the Pastor.
      •
      • Limited scholarships (financial assistance) are available. Youth should first apply for Diocesan scholarships.
      •
      • All youth will submit 2 checks payable to the Parish of the Precious Blood upon registration. One check will be for 2/3 of the total cost, and will be returned to the youth uncashed after the event. The second check will be for 1/3 of the total cost and will be deposited immediately to offset cost. (EXCEPTION: Those youth attending and paying the full amount will submit one check for the full amount at time of registration.)
      •
      • In the event a youth cancels out after the deadline or does not attend the event, the check for 2/3 of the total amount will be forfeited to cover the costs.
      •
      • Youth and their parents are responsible for reading emails regarding deadlines for registration and cancellations.
      •
      • Attending Youth Ministry events is a privilege, not a right.
